In George R. Romero's zombie film, Dawn of the Dead, he depicted zombies returning to a shopping mall because their consumer instincts were so hard-wired into them that they still shuffled around the aisles even though they were technically dead. I shall be returning to the Town website to watch tonight's stream of the game against Bournemouth in a similar fashion. Not because I expect to be entertained or see my team triumph but out of muscle memory and grim routine.  If that bleak intro didn't tip you off, I'm not feeling optimistic about Town's prospects tonight. In fact, you can probably find literally hundreds of better things to do with your time rather than watch Town this evening. Suchas organising your underpants by colour, staring at the wall or watching the soaps. All those t...

Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Rotherham

Matches
This is it! The big one! The most important game of the season so far for Carlos Corberán and his (occasionally) tricky Terriers. Today's game against Rotherham is a chance for Town to put some breathing space between us and the bottom three. But Rotherham will be desperate to get the three points themselves, to help with their survival struggle and to pull Town back into the scrap at the bottom. There's additional significance to this game due to the fact Town are coming off the back of their worst defeat for decades after Tuesday's 7-0 spanking from Norwich. The team selection for that game was seen as a major part of why it went so wrong. Here's the lineup I think Carlos will go for today…  Goalkeeper: Ryan Schofield  Illness ruled Schofield out at the last minute aga...

Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Brentford today

Matches
Huddersfield Town return from the international break this lunchtime with a televised game against Brentford at the John Smith's Stadium. The Bees are the Championship's top scorers so far this season but a few poor results leaves them needing a good run to keep their automatic promotion ambitions alive.  Town will be hoping they can add points to their tally to reduce our relegation fears. Though it's likely to be a tough test for Corberán's men, as the away fixture against Brentford saw us handed a footballing lesson in a game where we barely laid a glove on the Bees.  Trying to be positive, the international break has seen some injured players move closer to fitness. So Carlos has more competition for places and should be able to choose a decent starting eleven today. He...
Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Sheffield Wednesday tonight

Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Sheffield Wednesday tonight

Matches
Huddersfield Town will hope to make it back-to-back wins when they take on Sheffield Wednesday tonight. The relegation-threatened South Yorkshire side come into the game on the back of a losing run of games but will be hoping the new manager bounce might finally start to kick in after Darren Moore has seen his new side lose the first few games of his tenure. Carlos goes into the game with a few interesting selection decisions, thankfully for the right reasons and we can enjoy seeing how he juggles his available players to come up with a plan to beat the "Massive" club. Unfortunately Colin Quaner won’t be available for Carlos as he now plays up in Scotland, so he’ll have to find his own Hilsborough Hero out of our current crop of players. With the international break coming after this...

As Alan Partridge once said, "Go to London! I guarantee you'll either be mugged or not appreciated. Catch the train to London, stopping at Rejection, Disappointment, Backstabbing Central and Shattered Dreams Parkway."  Let's hope that Huddersfield Town's trip to Loftus Road this afternoon doesn't result in shattered dreams but given the recent form of the home side and our pitiful away record it's likely to be another big ask for Town to come away with anything.  Read on to find out my thoughts on who Town will select this afternoon, my prediction for the outcome and some of the key talking points ahead of the match.  Predicted Huddersfield Town XI  Goalkeeper: Schofield  Defence: Edmonds-Green, Stearman, Sarr Midfield: Rowe, Hogg, O'Brien, Bacuna, Pip...
Predicted lineup, score and 5 key questions for Huddersfield Town v Cardiff

Predicted lineup, score and 5 key questions for Huddersfield Town v Cardiff

Matches
Huddersfield Town face Cardiff tonight in a game that seems certain to disappoint Town fans as the team with the worst form in the Championship faces the one with the best. Cardiff are riding high after Mick McCarthy's recent arrival. The dour Yorkshireman has taken the Bluebirds on an exceptional winning run that has made them playoff contenders despite the fact they were two points behind Town on New Year's Day. Town's recent win against Swansea shows we can lift our levels when up against quality opposition but Cardiff specialise in the kind of physical football that has consistently tripped Town up this season, so expecting anything but a difficult night requires almost psychotic levels of optimism. So, after making myself thoroughly miserable during this introduction, here are...

Predicted lineup, score and key talking points for Huddersfield Town v Birmingham

Huddersfield Town play Birmingham City tonight in a game that has potential to define the rest of this season. A positive result could push Town clear of the relegation strugglers and end this poor patch. A defeat will plunge Town right into the mess at the bottom end of the table.  There's a tendency to overhype games these days but I genuinely believe this game is the most important one of the season so far. I'd be lying if I said I felt confident going into it but this team, for all its flaws, can produce a performance when you least expect it.  Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Birmingham  Goalkeeper: Ryan Schofield  Defence: Edmonds-Green, Keogh, Stearman, Pipa  Midfield: Vallejo, O'Brien, High Forwards: Mbenza, Phillips, Holmes  I have no i...

These team prediction articles have changed over time. Rather than trying to pick the cream of the available talent in the Town squad it's more of a case of cobbling together a starting eleven that is more or less fit and with players that are mostly able to buy a lottery ticket without needing ID.  So the tricky away fixture at Preston is likely to see another Town team of players that are either inexperienced, out of form or over the hill. In case you haven't guessed it, my expectations are through the floor for this game after our dismal showing at Derby in midweek. But, knowing Town, the point where you're most disgusted with them is when they surprise you with an unlikely victory, like they did against Swansea last weekend.  Here's who I think Carlos will pick tomorrow...

Derby preview – Team news, predicted starting XI, tactics and score

Matches
Huddersfield Town head to Derby riding a wave of euphoria following their unexpected 4-1 dismantling of Swansea at the weekend. The game tonight has huge significance for Town’s season, a positive outcome will help fans to believe our awful recent run ended last Saturday but a defeat could leave us thinking Saturday was just a fever dream, a freak one-off and we’re still deep in trouble. The last time we played Derby they were in dreadful shape and we won the game despite not being all the great ourselves. Wayne Rooney’s managerial career started recently at Derby and he’s presided over an upturn in form that has pulled the Rams out of the relegation zone and returned them to winning ways (though I’ve got my reservations about Rooney as a manager, which you can read about at the end of ...

Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Swansea today

I didn't bother with a team prediction article for the last game because it seemed fairly obvious who would start against Middlesbrough. Against Swansea today there are a few more questions about who should play and Corberán will have to decide whether to persevere with senior players that are playing poorly or to experiment with youth against one of the league's best teams.  Whatever the lineup, Town haven't won in 2021 and Swansea haven't lost, so it's likely to be a tough afternoon for the Terriers.  Goalkeeper:Schofield  The young keeper looks increasingly nervous between the sticks and is getting erratic with his decision making. He was lucky that Middlesbrough's free kick goal was chalked off for offside as otherwise his bizarre decision to come for a ball he ...
