Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Bristol City

Andre Breitenreiter said the team needed fresh legs and a fresh mentality following the bruising 4-1 defeat to Preston in midweek, so expect a few changes ahead of today's game with Bristol City. He's not wrong either, as Town ran out of both steam and ideas as Preston ran riot in the closing stages on Tuesday night. Hopefully, a few new faces today might help to produce a more convincing performance from the Terriers, as they dangle precariously above the relegation zone with just four games left in the season. It's still early in Breitenreiter's time at Town but his approach to selection is starting to become apparent and he seems to like tinkering with his lineup. Most of the time there's common sense to the changes he makes so I suspect he'll look to solve the most obvious problems...

Huddersfield Town v Millwall – predicted Town XI, opposition preview and guessing the score

Must-win is an overused term in football these days but I think Huddersfield Town’s match against Millwall today is one that has potential to define their season. Victory could set them on course for survival and anything else leaves them with a very tricky task with five games remaining. It probably isn't over for Town if they lose but negative results elsewhere and the morale sapping impact a home defeat to a fellow struggler could mean League One would beckon. On a positive note, victory would give Town a decent chance of pulling out of the relegation zone given Birmingham face Leicester today and either way it will leave them with a more achievable points target from the remaining fixtures in the season, not to mention the fact it keeps Millwall within touching distance too. ...

Huddersfield Town take on Bristol City this afternoon and will be hoping to extend their three-game unbeaten run. Today should be a good test for Town, as we’re up against a team that are decent enough (they’re above Town in the table after all) but are far from world beaters. It feels like we have had to think a lot about the opposition in our recent games and account for their strengths and counteract them but this may be a game where we have an opportunity to assert ourselves a bit more and potentially even dominate possession for spells, which would be a novelty after three games of possession stats in the low twenties. I’m usually fairly balanced in my opinions about Town, I’m typically somewhere in between the happy clappers who can never find any fault with the club and the doom mongers that will look for misery in even the most joyful moments (though I’m pretty sure long-term readers will probably disagree with my self-assessment). It feels like forever since we’ve had a Town game to watch, so I’m looking forward to getting down to the stadium and watching Darren Moore’s team play. It’s never nice to see your ex with a new partner. And while the feelings aren’t exactly the same, I’ve more affection towards David Wagner than I have many ex partners, so it’ll be weird to see him in the dugout wearing another team’s tracksuit this afternoon. Of course, he’s done it already last season with Norwich and it was pretty strange then too, but we were so bogged down in our own relegation troubles it wasn’t so much of a focus. On Saturday, I achieved the rare feat of predicting the full starting eleven for Town correctly. While I'd love to say this was down to my powers of prediction improving, after years of wayward forecasts, it speaks more to the limited options available to Neil Warnock. Tonight's game against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup, however, gives him an opportunity to see if any of his backup options might be worth giving a go in the league. Huddersfield Town open their Championship campaign this afternoon against Plymouth Argyle on the south coast. It’s our host’s first game back in the Championship after getting promotion from League One as champions last season.
