The 8 best tweets from Huddersfield Town’s thrilling late win against Cardiff

Town continued their incredible unbeaten run with a very late win at Cardiff on Tuesday night. These moments don’t come along often so it’s no surprise that many fans took to social media to savour the moment. Here are a few of my favourite tweets about this memorable victory.

Chris Green offers to do Carlos’ laundry!

Corberán is usually so intense on the touchline but it’s unusual to see him celebrate like this, which is why this knee slide makes me smile so much. I get fed up of managers pretending they’re not bothered when their team scores, much better to join in the celebrations. Thankfully he wasn’t wearing his cream chinos as grass stains can be pretty hard to get out of light coloured fabric.

Sorba Thomas conducts the Cowshed

I mostly love Sorba Thomas for the things he can do with a football but I think he’s a great personality too and that’s a big part of his appeal. I get the feeling that this last 12 months have been a dream come true for him and he looks to be enjoying every second of it. In fairness, I’ve heard he’s also one of the hardest working players on the training pitch too so he deserves to revel in his success.

Tom Lees enjoys telling the Cardiff bench to pipe down

Hotline HTAFC clipped out this bit of Tom Lees interview where he describes how the Cardiff bench were giving him some stick and it made his night to tell them to quiet down. Great stuff.

Thomas Howard singles out Rhodes for praise

There were lots of players that deserve a bit of credit for Tuesday night but Rhodes should be part of that conversation. His assist for Koroma’s goal was great and he made a real nuisance of himself in the build up to Russell’s winner. While I’d still prefer Ward to be our starting striker, it’s good to have such quality on the bench.

Jon Russell is compared to Philip Billing

It’s hard to disagree with David’s assessment of these two players. Russell has that ability to play a pass like Billing had in his Town days but he also has a bit of steel too, making him much more effective at the defensive side of the game.

The coaches are feeling the love

The wave at the end of wins is back and it’s a good thing. No doubt other fans will call it “tinpot” and suggest we’re over-celebrating but why wouldn’t you want to celebrate every win? What’s wrong with enjoying yourself? Besides, moments like these really help to build the bond between the players and the fans, which hasn’t been higher since our first season in the Premier League.

Shamelessly promoting my own tweets

I don’t usually put my own tweets in these compilations but I really liked this photo I took as I was walking down to the ground before the game. The combination of the floodlights, rain and wind created a really dramatic look.

Goalkeeping coach posts video linking training to Nicholls’ matchday success.

I love this short video as you can really see how the fairly odd looking training routines embed the reactions that have seen Nicholls bail Town out so many times in recent games. While we’ve all been full of praise for Lee Nicholls this season, Paul Clements deserves some respect for getting the absolute best out of a keeper that couldn’t get into MK Dons’ starting eleven last season.

  • Love it. Some great spots. And photography(!)
Have you seen Sandra (who I stopped following for all the Carlos bashing) edit of Carlos’ knee slide?
