Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on QPR

After a disappointing defeat to Cardiff on Tuesday night, Town have an opportunity to get back to winning ways against QPR this afternoon. We are up against a team that share many of Huddersfield Town's characteristics such as playing out from the back, trying to play attractive football and often getting it all a bit wrong. Like Town, QPR have both underperformed in some games and over-achieved in others, so the game is particularly hard to predict, much like Carlos Corberán's team selections. Carlos made five changes on Tuesday night in a bit to rest some tired legs and to give some fringe players an opportunity. Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Cardiff

Huddersfield Town will play against Cardiff tonight in south Wales. The Terriers will be hoping to build upon their decent win against Middlesbrough at the weekend but face stiff opposition after Cardiff beat Luton 4-0 last Saturday. I can imagine it will be a tough, physical battle against the Bluebirds and Town will most likely have to mix it up a bit before they can play the free-flowing, passing game they aspire to. There are a few tricky choices for Carlos Corberán tonight, mostly around whether to favour youth or experience. Huddersfield Town face a stern test in their first match back after the international break when they head to the Potteries to play Stoke. After the start we’ve had under Carlos Corberán we don’t need to fear any opponent but we will need to be at our best to beat a team with one of the strongest squad’s in the Championship with a canny manager at the helm. Carlos will have a mostly fit squad to pick from though Pritchard and Pipa are both confirmed as being unavailable. He will also have the luxury of picking nine subs and the potential to make five changes during the game, which gives him more opportunity to tinker with his gameplan. Town play Luton this afternoon in their final game before the international break. Town's defeat to Luton during lockdown was one of last season's worst performances, seeing Town dominate possession but looking toothless in attack against a resolute Luton side (sound familiar?). Town have struggled already this season against defensive teams so it's likely to be a tough afternoon and a real test of how much the team have progressed under Corberán. Huddersfield Town entertain Bristol City at the John Smiths’ Stadium this evening in a match where the hosts are the bookies' favourites and the visitors haven’t won in five matches. The omens for this match seem to be in Town’s favour but we always seem to falter at the point we are hitting our stride so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the omens. Regardless of the outcome at least we can now expect to see this Town team work their socks off in every match and that’s been one of the real differences we’ve seen under Corberán. My heart always sinks when I see we’re playing Millwall. I’m not sure they could be officially counted as a bogey team statistically but it certainly feels like they’re a team we rarely do well against. They thumped us in the final (admittedly meaningless) game of last season and farther back but more memorably, broke our hearts by knocking us out of the League One playoff semi-final in 2010. The song goes that no one likes Millwall but I feel like we’ve got more reason to dislike them than most. Millwall are actually a pretty decent Championship team these days too, to make matters worse. Tonight Huddersfield Town take on Birmingham City in the fourth game of this intense period of seven games in between international breaks. Carlos Corberán will have to balance picking his best players against their flagging levels of fitness. The selection is further complicated by Naby Sarr's suspension following his red cards against Preston. Birmingham are yet to score from open play so far this season but they are also solid in defence so it could be a low scoring game. PNE are a hard-working, well-disciplined and physical side that will provide a difficult test for Carlos Corberán's men. Town's recent upturn in form means that confidence will be high going into the game but it is also the third game in a week, so there could be some tired legs. Here's how I think Town will line up. Huddersfield Town take on Derby tonight in a game that looked intimidating at the start of the season but seems less threatening given Derby have lost four of their opening five games and are without their potato shaped talisman, Wayne Rooney. They’re still a good team and will give Town a stern test but our unbeaten run of three games will give our players confidence and Derby won’t be relishing the prospect of playing us after our victory over Swansea at the weekend. Carlos Corberán will have to decide whether he wants to stick with the players that won the game on Saturday or freshen up the lineup after only two recovery days since Saturday’s game. After a disappointing end to the transfer window which saw Town fail to add any new players to the squad, Carlos Corberán has the same old faces to choose from for the game against Swansea. On the plus side, a few of the injuries from before the international break have healed and the likes of O'Brien and Schindler should be fit to play. So here's my predicted starting eleven.
