Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Blackpool tonight

Last Saturday was a red letter day for the blog, as I successfully predicted the entire starting XI for Huddersfield Town. Much like a stopped clock is right twice a day, it does occasionally happen that I get the team prediction right but the task was made easier by the fact Town had won the previous game against Bolton by a large margin and the only likely change was forced by injury, with Headely coming in to replace Miller. Today's Town lineup against Blackpool is a much trickier beast to predict though, after near-universal underperformances against Northampton, every position could be up for grabs. But then again, Michael Duff has been fairly faithful to his regular starters so far in his tenure so may stick with his favourites despite the need for change. So here's my pred...

Huddersfield Town take on the Cobblers this afternoon in a game where they're widely tipped to win but anyone who remembers the Shrewsbury and Stevenage games will know that easy wins on paper can be hard work in reality. As, at the time of writing, there was no new striker to do a blogpost about, I thought I might as well write an article about the players Huddersfield Town actually do have on their books. So strap yourself in for a predicted lineup article for our encounter with Rotherham at the New York Stadium. Steve Evans’ men have had a rocky start to life in League One, with one draw and two defeats so far with no goals in any of their opening three league games. Huddersfield Town take on Stevenage Borough in their opening home league game of their League One campaign. And after winning away at Peterborough last Saturday and at home in the FizzyPop Cup, expectations are steadily starting to rise among some Town fans (or at least they are with this one). While it's common to ignore early league tables, last weekend’s win at Peterborough catapulted Town to the tip of the embryonic table, so suddenly publishing tables after one game seems like a sensible thing to do. Huddersfield Town take on Morecambe tonight in the first round of the Carabao Cup. Which is great news if you're a fan of sickly-sweet energy drinks or unloved cup competitions. I'm actually in the latter camp, and quite enjoy games in the league cup. So it's a bit of a disappointment that our usual approach is to pick a weak team, play badly and bomb out of the competition straight away. Maybe it will be different this year. Duff has already all-but confirmed he'll be playing a second string team but it's possible that the team he sends out might make a better fist of this game than our previous attempts to make progress in this cup. Technically speaking, there wasn't a break in the football this summer, as the Euros conveniently overlapped with the start of Huddersfield Town's preseason friendlies. But even so, international tournaments and preseason friendlies are really only the equivalent of methadone to the proper football fix that club football brings, or at least that's how I feel. So it feels like it's been forever since Town left the Championship with a whimper and hopefully between the start of May and the middle of August, Town had changed from a dreadful Championship team to a top League One team. Andre Breitenreiter said the team needed fresh legs and a fresh mentality following the bruising 4-1 defeat to Preston in midweek, so expect a few changes ahead of today's game with Bristol City. He's not wrong either, as Town ran out of both steam and ideas as Preston ran riot in the closing stages on Tuesday night. Hopefully, a few new faces today might help to produce a more convincing performance from the Terriers, as they dangle precariously above the relegation zone with just four games left in the season. It's still early in Breitenreiter's time at Town but his approach to selection is starting to become apparent and he seems to like tinkering with his lineup. Huddersfield Town v Millwall – predicted Town XI, opposition preview and guessing the score

Must-win is an overused term in football these days but I think Huddersfield Town’s match against Millwall today is one that has potential to define their season. Victory could set them on course for survival and anything else leaves them with a very tricky task with five games remaining. It probably isn't over for Town if they lose but negative results elsewhere and the morale sapping impact a home defeat to a fellow struggler could mean League One would beckon. On a positive note, victory would give Town a decent chance of pulling out of the relegation zone given Birmingham face Leicester today and either way it will leave them with a more achievable points target from the remaining fixtures in the season, not to mention the fact it keeps Millwall within touching distance too. ...

Predicted Huddersfield Town lineup, Bristol City preview and score prediction for today’s game

Huddersfield Town take on Bristol City this afternoon and will be hoping to extend their three-game unbeaten run. Today should be a good test for Town, as we’re up against a team that are decent enough (they’re above Town in the table after all) but are far from world beaters. It feels like we have had to think a lot about the opposition in our recent games and account for their strengths and counteract them but this may be a game where we have an opportunity to assert ourselves a bit more and potentially even dominate possession for spells, which would be a novelty after three games of possession stats in the low twenties.
