My 11 favourite tweets from Huddersfield Town fans following Norwich defeat

Huddersfield Town fans are a broad church and represent a wide spectrum of opinions. Twitter is a melting pot where these views are expressed and that’s what happens yesterday after Town’s defeat to Norwich.

Here are a selection of my favourite tweets about yesterday’s game.

HTAFC Statto reminds us that we don’t tend to start well

We beat Brentford on the opening day of the promotion season and Crystal Palace in our first Premier League game and haven’t won any of the rest since 2011. I suspect this trend may go back even further but haven’t had time to research it.

Losing by a single goal is better than expected

I agree with Ben, we performed far better than expected, particularly after the limp performance against Rochdale last weekend.

Koroma was singled out for praise

Nicholas picked up on the elements of Koroma’s game that made him stand out yesterday. I’m not sure he’s ready to fill Karlan Grant’s boots just yet but looks capable of bagging a few goals this season.

A positive reaction that acknowledges our problems

An excellent summary of how many fans feel after the game. While the performance was encouraging it doesn’t mean this squad is good enough right now to survive, we badly need reinforcements.

Billy has a more pessimistic take on the afternoon

It can be a tough task to follow a team like Town and it’s probably better to go into the season expecting to be disappointed. The thing that keeps us coming back is the possibility it could be different in the next game. Carlos and his new approach helps keep that hope alive that better things may be around the corner.

Terrier1987cas gives a scathing critique of Pritchard and Bacuna

It seems almost universal that fans want to see new additions to the squad. The underperformance of Bacuna and Pritchard underlines this because we have very few alternatives to them, so they’ll most likely keep getting picked even if they are playing poorly.

A single lapse cost Town

This tweet shows the fine margins that decide games. At the point Norwich scored the game had opened up and both sides looked capable of getting a goal. Once we’d conceded it changed the dynamic and we struggled to force opportunities.

Classic Town

Steve’s right that there was a familiar feeling to yesterday’s game. The first half of our second Premier League season was full of good performances that ended in narrow defeat. Then we mixed it up by playing poorly and getting beaten for the second half of that season.

Carlos gets some credit

The level of effort and discipline showed by Town’s players yesterday was a big step forward and if we keep it up the results should follow. It may take a bit of time though and a lot of Town fans are sick of being patient.

Give Corberán the players and he will get the results

Chris points out that the result was pleasantly surprising and shows this team could do well if the board back the new Head Coach in the transfer market.

Reece Dinsdale calls for patience

A great summary from Reece. I think the point about patience is particularly important. It’s going to take time to get things exactly how Corberán wants them.

I keep hearing it was a single error that led to us losing the game 1 – 0. Well there were two errors (cetain penalties) from the referee that also made it just 1 – 0 otherwise we might not be talking about the defeat as positive as we are.

It’s true they should have had two penalties but given the ref leant us a hand with those decisions it was ultimately Stearman’s error that lead to defeat.

Maybe I’m being a bit too optimistic but we did come close to nicking a point from a game I expected us to lose heavily.
