Huddersfield Town confirm plans for next season’s shirt badge

In the most recent ATT Voices Panel meeting Huddersfield Town confirmed that they will NOT be using the “Terriers” dog logo on next season’s shirt and will instead be reverting to an embroidered badge of some sort. The were few details, but it was clear that the logo on last season’s shirt is now going to be a one season experiment rather than a permanent change of shirt badge.

Luke Cowan, the club’s Retail Manager, confirmed that: “The Terrier Dog was only for one year.” Sean Jarvis made similar comments in the “And He Takes That Chance” podcast last week, but I believe this is the first time it’s been confirmed in writing by the club.

What badge will be on next season’s shirt?

There’s very little detail about what the terrier badge will be replaced with, but it seems likely that a return to the traditional crest in some form. It may be that the specific design is changed but I’d expect to see it to be broadly the same badge fans are used to.

One thing that many fans were calling for when they saw last seasons shirt was for the three stars return, so I’d be shocked if they didn’t feature somewhere on the shirt.

Who will make next season’s Town shirt?

The club also confirmed that Umbro will remain the shirt manufacturer for next season.

Was the Terrier Dog shirt bad luck to Town?

No. The design on our shirt had literally no influence over our relegation last season. We just weren’t good enough. I find it a bit silly that some fans are convinced that our poor form last season was down to the change in logo, it’s nearly as daft as the suggestion that the guy that does Town’s Instagram was the reason we were relegated. The real reason we went down is far less interesting: we were the worst team in the league in just about every measurable way. Thankfully we can put all that behind us now and instead look forward to an exciting season in the Championship.
