Coming from behind, Bristol poor, playoff doubts, penalty woes and glimmers of hope – Notes on Town’s away win against Bristol City

Huddersfield Town won their third away game of the season against Bristol City yesterday, an outcome that seemed incredibly unlikely after we went behind after only a few minutes and then missed a penalty in the immediate aftermath of their goal. Town just about deserved the three points though, showing more attacking ambition than we’ve seen in recent weeks and reaping the rewards for pushing forward with more purpose and intention. Asking for trouble, stale tactics, lacking ambition, Carlos’ job security and unexpected stats ‐ Notes on the draw with Coventry

Despite getting a draw against one of the league's better teams on Saturday, I was left with a bitter taste after sitting through the game. Despite Town's respectable league position, alarm bells are ringing for many fans and it feels like we're a team on the slide. Coventry played fairly well but most teams would have when their opponent allowed them so much time on the ball and space to get away shots at will. Had Coventry been slightly clinical with their finishing we could have been hammered in this game. Though if Matty Pearson had nodded home his straightforward chance in the second half we would almost certainly have gone on to win, so it's not worth dwelling on hypothetical too much. Predicted lineup, Grant’s return, mounting injuries, predictions and ownership issues – A preview of Town v WBA

This recent international break feels like it was incredibly long, so it’s a treat to get back to watching Town again today. While it was nice to see Emile Smith Rowe do so well for England, I’m otherwise left entirely cold by international football outside of the big tournaments and I’m glad there won’t be another international break until next March. Today’s opponents are West Bromwich Albion, one of the league’s stronger teams but they’re not as good as Fulham and Bournemouth and have dropped a few points away from home in recent times. Looking at the players they have available makes them look to be an intimidating opponent but Town have already shown this season that they can, on their day, match anyone. “Gritty” – Player ratings for Huddersfield Town’s 1-0 win over Millwall

Huddersfield Town fought hard and came away with all three points in a fairly stale encounter with Millwall. Maybe it’s my blue and white tinted spectacles, but I think that Town genuinely deserved to win the game even though the ref missed a blatant penalty that could have seen Millwall equalise in the dying moments. Few players played badly yesterday even though the combination of their efforts wasn’t exactly sparkling football. In fact, Town were fairly ordinary for long spells but were organised enough to keep Millwall out and managed to score yet another set piece goal thanks to Sorba Thomas’ delivery. Apologies for the recent radio silence on the blog. A hectic few weeks in my personal life have meant that my opportunities to write about Town have been limited. At least things have gone relatively smoothly while I’ve been out of action, as Town sit just outside the top-six as part of a large clump of mid-table Championship teams on the same number of points. Town entertain Millwall this afternoon, another one of the seven teams with 21 points on the board. It should be a decent battle between two teams that have done fairly well so far this season. Millwall, as always, will provide a tough physical presence and Town will have to decide if they want to mix it with them or try to play around them. Huddersfield Town take on Luton Town later today at Kenilworth Road. If Town win and other results go our way we could head into the international break in the playoff positions. Even if we don’t, our points tally and table position are looking very healthy when compared to most people's expectations at the start of the season. While there isn’t pressure on Town to get a result today, I would say there’s pressure to put together a consistent run of performances. The inconsistency this season has seen Town swing between looking like world beaters and relegation fodder from one game to the next. “It’s impossible to not like him.” Player ratings for Huddersfield Town’s win against Blackburn

I talked about Huddersfield Town being consistently inconsistent before Tuesday night’s game and that was how it proved, when they followed up two pretty dire defeats with a thrilling victory over a high-quality opponent. While it might not have been a perfect performance, there was plenty of effort and a fair amount of quality on display from the Terriers and that was what helped them secure the three points. It’s probably a bit late to be publishing a player ratings article two days after a game but a busy schedule and a desire to linger on a game that could prove significant to Town’s season made me write this article anyway. Predicted Town XI for tonight, being consistently inconsistent, the Sorba slump and the Swansea inquest – Another Huddersfield Town roundup

Huddersfield Town were beaten 1-0 by Swansea at the weekend, in a game that could easily have been a much heavier loss for the Terriers if it hadn’t been for excellent goalkeeping work from Nicholls and some wasteful finishing from the Swans. Thankfully there isn’t a lot of time to dwell on this defeat as Blackburn will be travelling to the John Smiths’ tonight to give us a chance of arresting the mini slump we’ve entered. Prior to the Forest game the weekend before last, things had been incredibly positive around Huddersfield Town football club but consecutive defeats have brought the doom mongers out from wherever they hide when things are going well. Huddersfield Town are in South Wales today to take on Swansea. After losing last week it feels like today’s game could offer a sign of whether the Forest game was a blip or if our previous good form was actually just a prolonged period of good fortune that has now come to an end. Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Nottingham Forest

I used to work with a Forest fan that became inexplicably cross whenever I referred to her team as Notts Forest rather than saying Nottingham Forest. I never understood it but as a tribute to her, I’ll be referring to Town’s opponents today as Notts Forest despite knowing full well that isn’t the correct name. That’s how petty I am. Back to Huddersfield Town, and things are going surprisingly well as we sit in fourth place in the table, are picking up decent results regularly and look like a good team all of a sudden.
