Predicted lineup, passing to death, player to watch, how to win – Swansea v Huddersfield Town PREVIEW

Matches
Huddersfield Town take on Swansea this afternoon, after making the long journey from West Yorkshire to south Wales. It’s likely to be another tricky afternoon for the Terriers, as Swansea are a decent team who like to play possession football. So expect another game where Town see very little of the ball and have to play on the counter. That might actually suit Neil Warnock’s Terriers though, as our recent turn around in fortunes has mostly been built around dogged performances where we let the other team keep the ball and hit them on the counter and with set pieces rather than trying to do anything too fancy ourselves.  Town go into the game outside of the relegation zone with just five games to go and this game represents a chance to put some extra space between us and the drop ...

Predicted Huddersfield Town lineup, what to expect from Swansea and score prediction for today’s game

Matches
Huddersfield Town have their last game for a month today, as they host Swansea City at the John Smith’s Stadium. They will be hoping to put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season after Josh Ruffels' brace proved enough to come away with three points against QPR on Tuesday night.  Victory today can’t pull Town out of the relegation zone but it can help them to finish this part of the season on a positive note and put leave with more than one point per game so far this season, which is usually enough to keep you up.  Here’s my preview of today’s game… Predicted Huddersfield Town lineup There are some tough calls for Mark Fotheringham to make for today’s game. He’s already confirmed that Tom Lees will come straight back into the team now he’s back fro...
Predicted lineup and preview for Huddersfield Town’s trip to Blackburn

Predicted lineup and preview for Huddersfield Town’s trip to Blackburn

Matches
Huddersfield Town’s hectic pre-World Cup fixture run continues later today when they take the short journey over the Pennines to play near-neighbours, Blackburn. This War of the Roses clash sees our Lancastrian foes come into the game in better form than Town, sitting in second in the table compared to our bottom position. Add to that the fact that Town are currently ravaged by injuries and it’s hard to be too optimistic for this game. But there were still glimmers of hope in Town’s defeat to Sunderland on Wednesday night. Despite still lacking cutting edge in front of goal, Town fought hard and had spells where they played some nice football. The youngsters that stepped up to fill the gaps created by injured senior players also did well too. Sadly, the games key moments were really decid...

Predicted lineup, lost faith in subs, Town old boys, winning ugly, score prediction – Preview of Huddersfield Town v Millwall

Matches
Huddersfield Town start a hectic period of games with a tricky home fixture against Millwall later today. It’s the first of a sequence of five games in 15 days and with Town currently sitting bottom of the league, it’s hard not to see these next few weeks as being absolutely pivotal to Town’s season. If we can pick up a few wins then we can claw ourselves back into contention but if we continue to flounder then we could head into the World Cup break adrift at the bottom of the table. Millwall are having a good season so far, after being tipped to struggle after losing their star player, Jed Wallace, in the summer. They’ve been particularly good recently, having won their last four and are undefeated in five. Whereas Town’s recent form has been faltering at best. Last weekend’s battling...

Coventry pitch doubts may impact selection, will Schofield park the bus?, Sinani revenge & predicted lineup – Norwich v Town preview

Matches
Huddersfield Town have made the long journey to Norwich for tonight’s game where they will be hoping to pick up more points after getting their first victory of the season against Stoke on Saturday. Our last competitive game at Carrow Road was a 7-0 drubbing back in April 2021, when Manchester United loanee, Joel Perreira, made a rare appearance in goals and Town put in one of their worst performances of the Carlos Corberan era. Thankfully, Norwich are nothing like the team they were the last time we visited them, after failing to win any of their first three league games of their return to the Championship they are in poor form, at least in terms of results. Here are a few of my thoughts ahead of the game. Predicted Huddersfield Town lineup to take on Noriwch Usually I’d dedicat...

Huddersfield Town and Burnley have got the honour of cutting the ribbon on the new football league season tomorrow night in front of the Sky cameras. In this article I’ll preview some of the potential talking points from the game.  Opening day fixtures can be misleading, after a summer of anticipation, their significance can be blown out of proportion and rather than a single result they are often seen as a signifier of how the whole season will go. But in fact they are just one game and because Town are a team in transition it’ll be even harder than usual to draw any kind of conclusions from tomorrow night’s game as they’re most likely going to need a few games to find their feet. Anyway, here are a few of my thoughts about tomorrow night’s game… What kind of head coach wi...
Predicted lineup, tactics, creating a cauldron, penalty takers and pride – A preview of Huddersfield Town v Luton Town

Predicted lineup, tactics, creating a cauldron, penalty takers and pride – A preview of Huddersfield Town v Luton Town

Matches
Huddersfield Town take on Luton tonight in their most important game for a very long time. At least since the West Brom home game we won at the end of the Danny Cowley era to secure our Championship survival in 2020. Or maybe the draw at Stamford Bridge that secured our Premier League survival in 2018. Or maybe even the playoff final in 2017. Whichever way you look at it, tonight’s game is a big deal.  Our 1-1 draw last Friday means that both teams head into the game on equal footing. Away goals don’t count for anything extra, so we start from scratch tonight and the winner on the night goes to Wembley. It may take extra time or penalties but one of these two teams will have to come out on top. Here are a few of the questions I have ahead of the game. Will Sorba Thomas start?&nbs...
Predicted lineup, formation, tactics and score for Huddersfield Town v QPR

Predicted lineup, formation, tactics and score for Huddersfield Town v QPR

Matches
Huddersfield Town take on QPR today in yet another televised game, this time with the odd kick off time of 5.30pm. Town come into the game buoyant after their crucial 2-0 win against promotion rivals, Luton Town. Not long ago it would have seemed like playing QPR would have been another game against playoff rivals but a run of five straight defeats has all-but ruled them out of contention for the playoffs and they come into this game in stinking form. I can’t be bothered to go back into the records to check if my hunch is correct, but Town seem to always help opponents end bad runs by losing to them. Most notably this season we played Nottingham Forest at home after a spell when they had been absolutely awful under Chris Hughton but sadly they had sacked their manager and beat us comfo...
Predicted lineup, momentum, tactics, form and score prediction for HTAFC v Bournemouth

Predicted lineup, momentum, tactics, form and score prediction for HTAFC v Bournemouth

Matches
Huddersfield Town face Bournemouth today in a game that Town have to win to keep alive even a distant prospect of taking the second automatic promotion slot. While Town are only three points behind today’s visitors in the league, Bournemouth’s three games in hand over us mean it’s almost certain they’ll pull clear of Town unless we beat them today. I’m not sure automatic promotion is a realistic objective anyway but bouncing back from Wednesday’s poor showing against Millwall has to be a priority. Regardless of the result, I’m hoping to see Town looking more competitive today and showing more fight.  Predicted Huddersfield Town lineup to take on Bournemouth I don’t think there are going to be big changes to the lineup today, so I’m not going to run through the whole team she...
Why do Huddersfield Town struggle against teams like Cardiff and how can they beat them?

Why do Huddersfield Town struggle against teams like Cardiff and how can they beat them?

Matches, Tactics
Huddersfield Town play Cardiff tomorrow night and will feel confident after beating the league leaders on Saturday and extending their unbeaten run to 15 games. However, Cardiff are in relatively decent form and are the exact type of team that Town have struggled against this season.  A physical challenge against an opponent that is happy to play long and sit deep is likely on the cards and Town don’t do particularly well in this kind of game. Or at least they haven’t until recently. This game could represent an opportunity to show how much Town have improved over the course of the season and it will be intriguing to see how the tactical side of the game plays out. Don’t expect an easy win for Town   It’s easy to look at the league table and think that Cardiff will...
