Predicted lineup, lost faith in subs, Town old boys, winning ugly, score prediction – Preview of Huddersfield Town v Millwall

Matches
Huddersfield Town start a hectic period of games with a tricky home fixture against Millwall later today. It’s the first of a sequence of five games in 15 days and with Town currently sitting bottom of the league, it’s hard not to see these next few weeks as being absolutely pivotal to Town’s season. If we can pick up a few wins then we can claw ourselves back into contention but if we continue to flounder then we could head into the World Cup break adrift at the bottom of the table. Millwall are having a good season so far, after being tipped to struggle after losing their star player, Jed Wallace, in the summer. They’ve been particularly good recently, having won their last four and are undefeated in five. Whereas Town’s recent form has been faltering at best. Last weekend’s battling...
Predicted 22/23 Championship table

Predicted 22/23 Championship table

Opinion
It seems like an act of pointless vanity to try and predict the league table before a ball has been kicked but it’s also a bit of fun and passes the time while we wait for the big kickoff on Friday. So here are my thoughts on what I think will happen in the Championship this season.  Feel free to bookmark this post and come back to it in May next year when none of my predictions have come true so you can laugh at me. Then again, by May 2023 the robot uprising may well have taken place and we’ll no doubt look back with teary-eyed nostalgia at the times when we had the opportunity to think about football rather than spend every waking moment working for our robot masters. Anyway, on with the predictions! The top two - Norwich and Middlesbrough Norwich are pretty boring at this...
Predicted Huddersfield Town XI for Danny Schofield’s return to Millwall

Predicted Huddersfield Town XI for Danny Schofield’s return to Millwall

Matches
Danny Schofield will take change of tonight’s game against Millwall as Town’s caretaker manager, following last Sunday’s sacking of Danny and Nicky Cowley. This makes predicting the lineup particularly tricky in a game which was already likely to see many changes due to it now being a dead rubber. Schofield has taken two training sessions before the game, so not enough time to dramatically change the tactics. I think he’ll stick with the 4-2-3-1 shape but due to his connection to the under 23 team, he’s likely to want to play a few of Town’s youngsters alongside experienced pros. GK: Coleman I think we'll give Coleman one last run out between the sticks before his contract runs out. He's not played much for Town lately but he didn't let us down back when he did play and I'd pick him pur...
Predicted starting XI for Huddersfield Town v Luton

Predicted starting XI for Huddersfield Town v Luton

Matches
Huddersfield Town face a huge game against Luton tonight, where victory will see us all but safe from relegation and defeat would plunge Town right into the scrap at the bottom of the table. Getting the team selection right will be tricky for Danny Cowley as he has to balance picking the best players against avoiding injury to those that have played the majority of our recent games. This game, in theory at least, represents the easiest opportunity to notch up a win out of the remaining four. There's an argument that picking the strongest possible team makes sense as rotation will be possible without consequence once we've got to the 50 points. Here's who I would pick for tonight's game: Goalkeeper: Lössl While Grabara had some good games in his loan spell this season, we have looked a...
Predicted starting XI for Huddersfield Town v Wigan

Predicted starting XI for Huddersfield Town v Wigan

Matches
It’s been over three months since Town last played. It’s been over six months since I last updated this blog. So expect both Town and this blog to be a bit rusty and make the odd mistake. I thought I’d ease myself back into the blog by having a wild stab at predicting Danny Cowley’s starting eleven for today’s game against Wigan. These predictions are even less likely to be correct than usual given how long it is since Town last played and how little we know about the condition of Town’s squad. Here’s my prediction about how Town will lineup at 3 O’Clock today. Goalkeeper: Lössl Town brought in Jonas Lôssl on loan from Everton because Kamil Grabara picked up a nasty head injury against Hull. Presumably Grabara is fully recovered and is in contention to start between the sticks. Even if...
