Today Huddersfield Town will take on Millwall at The Den and while it's never a pleasant place to try and get a result, Darren Moore is likely to feel that the hostility from the Millwall fans is nothing compared to the hostility he is getting from all other directions at the moment. In this article, I'm going to take a look at all the different ways Huddersfield Town's manager is currently being put under pressure. In an old job I used to work on big cross-departmental projects and at the end of them we’d have these “lessons learned” meetings, where (in theory) we’d all get together and discuss what we could do better next time. In reality, these meetings were massive finger pointing exercises, where everybody came along to blame the other department for making a massive mess of the project and it would usually descend into bitter name calling.  So, in the spirit of those “lessons learned” meetings, I’m going to write an article about all the things that went wrong for Huddersfield Town last season. Would promotion to the Premier League be a good thing for Huddersfield Town?

Huddersfield Town were everyone's pick for relegation favourites earlier this season and few Town fans grumbled because they expected much the same. So it's marvelous to be looking forward to a playoff campaign in a few weeks time, especially as Town have qualified with two games to spare.  I've said in the past that I don't really want Town to go up this season because our relegation season in the Premier League was so miserable and I wouldn’t want to spend a year being the whipping boys again. It’s been a couple of days since Town were rigorously and repeatedly violated by Norwich and it’s still a painful memory. While some fans have been left numb to Town’s struggles this season due to not being physically in the stadia, this result hurt as much as any whipping I’ve witnessed from the stands. Huddersfield Town’s season will be defined by the collective outcome of their next nine games. If we go on another winless run like the one we had after Christmas then relegation beckons. But if our form is more like it was in the build up to Christmas then a respectable midtable finish is possible even if it wouldn’t fully paper over the cracks that were exposed during that bad run in the early part of the new year. Last Friday, Huddersfield Town released an article on their website that was written by Phil Hodgkinson, providing details about how the club is currently being run.  Here are a few of my thoughts on the things contained within the statement. Click here to read the statement if you haven't seen it yet.  Monthly updates Committing to monthly updates is a good idea as it will help with the communication between the club and the fans. Clearly it would have been better to have done this a long time ago but better late than never.  I think live Q&As with fans or interviews with the press would be better than releasing prepared statements every month but otherwise it’s a step in the right direction. Huddersfield Town have had a poor start to their 2018/19 season, with three defeats and one draw from their opening four games. Admittedly, two of those losses came against top-six opposition, but performances in those games was disappointing even when you account for the opposition. Losing is fine, but rolling over and letting them tickle your belly is less acceptable. In this article I’m going to try to pinpoint where the problems currently lie for Town and David Wagner. This isn’t an article that’s moaning about our current situation, rather I’m trying to find what the problems are and then it may be easier to see how we can turn this slump around. In the last At The Town Voices Panel meeting there was a discussion between fans and club officials about the conduct of the Huddersfield Examiner. I wasn’t at the meeting, but the minutes released this week suggest fans highlighted perceived bad behaviour from the local paper and asked some pointed questions about whether the club would continue to work with them. Here’s the most relevant bit of the minutes: [The Voices Panel] Understand [The Examiner] are a business and need to sell papers but feel they are abusing their position at the Club and not upholding the code of conduct that the Club abide by and their behaviour doesn’t fit the Club ethos.
