Huddersfield Town take on Leicester on New Year's Day at the King Power Stadium. It comes just two days after Town’s 0-0 draw with Burnley and marks the end of the hectic Christmas schedule for Town. Here’s a look forward to Monday’s game… Predicted lineup David Wagner has consistently played weakened teams in the cups since he’s been at Town, so I suspect he’ll pick the best available team for Leicester and a weakened team in the FA Cup next weekend. For Leicester this might mean bringing in fresh legs in some areas but sticking with his mainstays in others. Lössl, Zanka and Schindler should start again. Both fullbacks will switch, as Hadergjonaj went off at half-time against Burnley and Malone had a bit of a stinker. Hogg and Mooy are our two first-choice midfielders but I...

6 talking points from the Leicester home game

Matches, Opinion
Huddersfield Town drew one all with Leicester in their latest Premier League game. It was a relief to see Huddersfield recapture their “terrier spirit” after a lacklustre performance in their defeat against West Ham. Here are some of the major talking points from the game... Kachunga’s “offside" goal and the case for video refereeing Elias Kachunga nodded in from Zanka’s strike and had the goal disallowed. In the stadium, I thought the linesman had made a good call because he was on his own when he headed home. However, the replay shows it was incredibly tight and was most probably onside. Two points could be the difference between survival and relegation for Town (or Champions League or Europa League qualification). It seems cruel that such fine margins could have such a huge influe...

Huddersfield Town were unlucky to only draw 1-1 with Leicester after they dominated long spells of the match. Leicester were unusually quiet and their best players struggled to make an impact on the game. While Town might have been unlucky to only come away with the point, there were smiles all round at the end. Town have once again played an established Premier League team and looked completely comfortable. The performance was more important than the result in my opinion, after a poor showing against West Ham earlier in the week. Jonas Lössl - 7 out if 10 The Danish keeper had very little to do all afternoon, (apart from fetching the ball out of the net after Vardy's penalty) which shows how well Town played. His distribution was very good as usual, though he played a few balls out t...

Huddersfield Town take on Leicester City at home this Saturday. The game comes just five days after the 2-0 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium, and presents Town with a chance to put that uncharacteristic performance behind them. Leicester won the league in 2015/16 and are a tough side to play. Town aren't likely to have things all their own way against the Foxes. We may be allowed to have possession of the ball, but Leicester are one of the most dangerous counter-attacking sides in the league. Vardy and Mahrez will be waiting to pounce on the slightest error and could punish any sloppiness at the back. Even without making a mistake, Vardy's raw pace will be a real test of our defence. Regardless of the result, I'm looking forward to seeing some of the best players in the Premier ...
