I'm running a bit late with this post, so imagine there's an introduction here. Then scroll down to read the meat of the article. Cheers.  Goalkeeper: Ryan Schofield  A stat came out yesterday that said Schofield has made more saves from shots in the 6 yard box than any keeper in the top four divisions of English football. And he wasn't even first choice until after Christmas. It's a slightly odd stat but it does show that he's very good at reflex saves. The less instinctive side of his game is slowly coming along too and I think he's going to go from strength to strength now he's broken into the starting eleven and had a decent run iof Championship games.  https://twitter.com/playmaker_EN/status/1384516368435929092?s=19 Defence: Edmonds-Green, Keogh, Sarr, O'Brien  The big ...

Huddersfield Town succumbed to a last minute defeat to Barnsley yesterday in a hard fought game that lacked quality football but was full of frenetic action. While the manner of the defeat was unlucky, it's hard to argue with the outcome when we had ridden our luck at times earlier in the game and failed to take our chances at the other end. In a season where there was more at stake, this result might have hurt but as we're already looking very likely to finish midtable it's hard for me to feel too upset. A draw would probably have been fair but you're always likely to lose if you defend balls into the box as poorly as we did for both of their goals. Here are my player ratings: Ryan Schofield - 7 out of 10 Some excellent saves and some less marvelous moments but balanced out to be rea...

When the fixtures came out my eyes immediately darted towards the Boxing Day game and I remember thinking that an away game at Barnsley was an excellent fixture and felt optimistic that fans might be allowed back in by then. So it's going to feel bitter sweet to tune into the stream on iFollow instead of making the journey to Oakwell myself. I'm glad I'll be able to watch the game but it won't be the same as being in the stands, smelling the newly gifted Lynx Africa and watching turkey sandwiches being stuffed into gobs. Obviously the world faces greater hardships than football fans not being able to watch games from inside crowded stadia but it's still sad we can't all come together to watch our team in person. Hopefully the roll out of the vaccine next year will see fans getting back in...
4 ex-Huddersfield Town managers in the running to become Barnsley boss

4 ex-Huddersfield Town managers in the running to become Barnsley boss

News
Barnsley are on the lookout for a new manager following Gerhard Struber’s exit from the South Yorkshire club to take up the helm at New York Red Bulls. I always like to take a look at the bookies favourites to take over when a manager leaves and I was surprised to see so many people with Huddersfield Town connections among the bookmakers shortlist. Here’s a look at the former Huddersfield Town managers that the bookies are offering odds on to take over at Oakwell and a few of my thoughts about the prospect of these coaches managing Barnsley. David Wagner - 16/1 Things started brightly for Wagner at Schalke in the Bundesliga but he was sacked recently after a terrible run of form that saw him fail to win in 18 games. In his defence, Schalke are rumoured to be poorly run off the pitch an...

MATCH REPORT: Barnsley 0 – 1 Huddersfield Town – pre-season friendly

Huddersfield Town won a relatively entertaining friendly against Barnsley by a single Steve Mounié goal, scored in the final minute. It was a deserved victory over a Barnsley team that worked hard and forced Town to up their game. Town victorious after testing first half It was a fairly slow start to the game and Barnsley pressed well, forcing quite a few sloppy mistakes from Town in possession. If this was a competitive game it might have been a concern that we misplaced so many passes in the first half but this kind of rustiness is to be expected in pre-season friendlies. Town struggled to build meaningful chances in the first half and the best chance of the half came from a cross-come-shot from Philip Billing which went wide of the post. Barnsley nearly scored themselves from a hea...

Huddersfield Town make the trip to South Yorkshire to play Barnsley for their fourth pre-season friendly. Now we’re getting slightly further into the pre-season schedule it’s likely a few players will make it through 90 minutes for this game and the tempo might be getting closer to competitive football. The relatively short journey to Barnsley and the number of fans on lower priorities worrying they’ll not get to see many away games this season makes me think there will be a strong Huddersfield Town following at Oakwell on Saturday.
