Late last night Huddersfield Town made me look silly by announcing a new signing despite the article I wrote yesterday confidently predicting that we only announce signings between 12pm and 8pm. Nevertheless, Town announced the signing of Pipa from Espanyol. The Spanish U21 player has arrived in Huddersfield and has helped lift the increasingly tense mood among Town fans frustrated by the lack of transfer activity. But how do Espanyol fans feel about this player leaving? With some help from Google Translate, I've put together some of the responses from their fans. What time of day to Huddersfield Town usually announce new signings?

This is one of those articles that I'm not particularly proud to have put together. I've gone back through the announcement tweets for every player Huddersfield Town have signed since the start of last season and looked at the time these announcements were made. I've used this data to work out when Huddersfield Town usually announce their new signings. I had a hunch that late afternoon or early evening were the most common time for new arrivals to be unveiled but I've now got the data to see if this hunch is correct. What is the average time that signings are announced? The average time of day for an announcement is 4.26pm. The transfer market has been moving at a similar pace to Alan Lee in his slippers this last few weeks. Despite Huddersfield Town desperately needing players, only two incoming deals have got over the line in this transfer window, with Danny Ward arriving on a free and Joel Pereira coming on loan from Manchester United. Rumours have been circulating for weeks about players being on the verge of signing for Town but then nothing would materialise. There's not been a Town game for months now and it still feels like there's a long time to go until the season kicks off, so there's not a lot going on apart from endless transfer speculation. To help my organise broadly where Town's squad stands at the moment I've put all our players into six categories. Julian Winter, Huddersfield Town's Chief Executive, gave an interview to the club's official YouTube account which revealed the clubs current transfer dealings, the status of the club's ownership and the ongoing search for a head of football operations. Town closing in on FIVE new players The biggest revelation in the interview was that Town are currently in talks with five players that they are hoping to sign soon. Widespread reports that Huddersfield Town are on the verge of signing Mbenza

I don't like to report about speculation, as it can often just be rubbish, but several sources are reporting that Town have submitted a €15m offer to Montpellier for Isaac Mbenza, a 22-year-old winger. French paper, L'Équipe, broke the story late on Monday night and several other websites and Twitter users have reported the same story. I've never heard of him before this rumour emerged, but having watched the highlights clip of his goals on YouTube, I now feel convinced he's the answer to all our problems! Who is Issac Mbenza? He's a right-footed young winger that has scored 11 goals in 54 appearances in Ligue 1 for Montpellier. Have Huddersfield Town too many foreign players for the Premier League rules?

Most Town fans will have noticed that our current squad has a far more cosmopolitan feel to it these days. One of the reasons we’ve achieved so much in recent seasons has been our ability to pick up players from abroad at a fraction of the cost their English equivalent would be valued at. Has delving into foreign markets left Town in a position where they could fall foul of the Premier League’s rules about homegrown players? Could Town be forced into naming a smaller squad than they could because of the lack of homegrown players on our books?
