Huddersfield Town made their first signing of the summer fairly early and we’ve had to wait a seeming eternity for them to announce their second and third signings of the summer. But we’ve finally made a couple of acquisitions and I have something to write about! So I’ve pushed aside my plans to write an investigative piece about Mick Wadsworth's disastrous time in Africa and instead I’ve looked into what our new signings fans really think about them. Where are the gaps in Huddersfield Town’s squad?

Town have cleared the decks this week by letting go of their out-of-contract players and sending back loanees to their parent clubs. This means the squad is now a bit on the thin side, even when you add in the players returning from loans that might add something to the first team. In this article I’m going to look at the various areas of the pitch and try to identify where Town are light and where they have enough players. “The transfer went badly wrong” – Some thoughts on Huddersfield Town’s retained list

As is tradition shortly after the end of the season, Huddersfield Town released their retained list yesterday. Very few players were offered new deals, with only Toffolo and Koroma being offered new deals and they were only one-year extensions on existing deals rather than proper new contracts. This list suggests that Town are planning to be busy in the transfer market this summer or intend to promote youngsters into the first team. It’s hard to be too objective about what this list means without seeing what we are going to replace these players with. It’s possible that we’ve already lined up high quality players to come in and improve the squad or maybe we’re just trying to trim the wage bill. Huddersfield Town finished third in the Championship this season and have made it to the playoff final a week on Sunday with a squad that cost buttons. Despite the Championship being littered with clubs that have spent large amounts of money to try and buy success, Carlos Corberán has been able to take his team to the brink of the Premier League despite spending very little on transfer fees during his tenure. Town overhauled their squad in the summer with a host of new arrivals but no money was spent on transfer fees, with all the new additions being free transfers or loans. Sorba Thomas to Watford rumour – A Huddersfield Town fan’s view

There were reports earlier this week that Watford may be considering a move for Sorba Thomas after his impressive season so far for Huddersfield Town. The stats he's been producing in the Championship, particularly in the first few months of the season, have been amazing and he's also earned his first few call ups to the Welsh national team. The transfer window closes next week and usually things would be starting to heat up around now but so far things are relatively quiet for Huddersfield Town. The whole transfer market seems to be moving a lot more slowly this time around, with fewer clubs willing to spend and others not wanting to lose prize assets. A Huddersfield Town fan’s view on Juninho Bacuna’s move to Glasgow Rangers

Juninho Bacuna has left Huddersfield Town to join Rangers. The Curacao international has been on the sidelines at Huddersfield Town since it emerged the club wanted to move him on and he has had to train with the academy rather than with the first team. I have a feeling he’ll do well at Rangers and it could be one of those transfers that we later regret. Huddersfield Town’s latest signing could hint towards future transfer plans

Huddersfield Town signed Jon Russell for their B Team following his release from Chelsea earlier this summer. Despite being on loan at Accrington Stanley last season and playing first team football in League One he will initially start off in Jon Worthington's B Team rather than going straight into the first team. This acquisition might hint at the long-term plan to use the B Team to bed in players rather than spending money on established players that are ready for the first team. A bit like buying green bananas and ripening them yourself rather than buying ones that are ready to eat. Huddersfield Town’s predicted retained list – who should stay and who will go?

Huddersfield Town limped to the end of the season with a tepid draw against Reading. I can't tell you much more about it than that as I didn't bother watching the game. Instead I had a pub lunch in a soggy beer garden which was infinitely more entertaining. Now the season is over the first bit of business will be for Town to announce which players in the current squad will be offered new deals and which ones will be leaving the club.
