Today is the penultimate game of Huddersfield Town's season and hopefully the day we can cast aside our relegation fears and hope for a better season next time around. If Town beat Coventry today then we've cleared the admittedly low bar of avoiding the drop or, more likely, we may fail to win and still survive because Derby and/or Rotherham fail to win their games. Repeating mistakes, rotten attitudes, unfit players and legitimate doubts about the head coach – Notes on Town’s humiliating defeat to Blackburn

Huddersfield Town fell to another humiliating defeat yesterday, this time to Blackburn. While 5-2 might not look as bad as the 7-0 battering we received from Norwich, in many ways this game was worse. The bulk of Norwich's goals came from excellent play but yesterday we were the architects of our downfall, as we made mistake after mistake and got the tactics completely wrong. Blackburn were good but we gave them a very easy afternoon's work. Weirdly, the other results mean Town are now almost certainly safe barring a very unlikely sequence of results. Few fans are in celebratory mood though as another dysfunctional performance means there are genuine questions to be asked about the competence of the Head Coach and the grand plan that we brought in last season as the justification ...

Predicted lineup, score and four questions for Huddersfield Town’s trip to Blackburn

Town have now played their last midweek game of the season and only have games today and the following two Saturdays before we can all do our best to pretend this season never happened. Today's trip to Blackburn is the final game of a sequence of seven games in three weeks for the Terriers so there's a ready-baked excuse for a subdued performance today. However, if Town can get a win out of this game we can "celebrate" that we've retained our Championship status one game earlier than last season. While that's the kind of progress you need a microscope to inspect, at least those nagging fears of relegation can be put to bed. Goalkeeper: Ryan Schofield A stat came out yesterday that said Schofield has made more saves from shots in the 6 yard box than any keeper in the top four divisions of English football. And he wasn't even first choice until after Christmas. It's a slightly odd stat but it does show that he's very good at reflex saves. Rebooting the game with dreary possession, taking chances, sloppy errors and survival maths – Notes on Town’s 2-0 victory over Forest

Town's win over Nottingham Forest settled many Town fans' nerves at the weekend. It doesn't guarantee safety but it's a huge stride towards it. There were good things and bad things in the match but ultimately, Town took their chances and Forest didn't, and that was the main difference between two fairly poor sides. Here are a few of my thoughts on the match. We could have been out of the game in the first 20 minutes Town were really bad in the opening stages of this game. We played like we were half asleep for twenty minutes and could easily have conceded two or three goals purely from silly mistakes at the back. I'm not completely sure what the problem was. “Thankfully we weren’t punished for his mistakes” – Player ratings for Huddersfield Town’s victory over Nottingham Forest

Huddersfield Town were deserved leaders at half time after Aaron Rowe put them in the lead. After a nervy start, Town became more dominant as the half wore on and it was their opponents that made an error while passing around at the back which lead to the goal. The win was sealed in the second half when Bacuna's thunderbolt put us two up and ended the game as a contest. While it was far from a perfect performance, it was a significant improvement on recent outings from Town and we were the better team on the day. While relegation isn't completely avoided with this win but it certainly puts us very close to safety. The starting XI Carlos should pick if he’s learned from his mistakes against Bournemouth

Huddersfield Town take on Nottingham Forest this lunchtime in a game that represents a chance to make a significant step towards Championship survival. Nottingham Forest aren't pushovers but we've beaten them once already this season and we have much more to play for as they are all but safe. I'm basing today's predicted lineup on the players I think Carlos should pick, based mostly upon their performances in Tuesday's game against Bournemouth. Many of the starting lineup were outshone by the subs that came on to replace them, so I'd like to see quite a few changes to today's lineup but I have a suspicion that Carlos may choose to stick with the core players he's used most of the season, even those that have underperformed lately. “He seems to have given up” – Player ratings for Huddersfield Town’s defeat to Bournemouth

While defeat was fully expected against Bournemouth, it still hurts to see a team that are literally playing for their livelihoods surrender so meekly as Town did in the first half last night. The early stages of the second half saw the worst performing players subbed out and a small but significant improvement was apparent from the rejigged team. Bournemouth were pretty comfortable despite Hogg's headed goal that brought us within a goal of them. For all the improvements in the second half, we couldn't find an equaliser despite some promising play at times. I have a feeling my view of this game may be out of step with many fans, as I was fairly happy with the second half and even in the first half I thought many players were doing okay. In George R. Romero's zombie film, Dawn of the Dead, he depicted zombies returning to a shopping mall because their consumer instincts were so hard-wired into them that they still shuffled around the aisles even though they were technically dead. I shall be returning to the Town website to watch tonight's stream of the game against Bournemouth in a similar fashion. Not because I expect to be entertained or see my team triumph but out of muscle memory and grim routine. “Sloppy and didn’t create enough” Huddersfield Town player ratings following their dismal draw with Rotherham

Huddersfield Town were incredibly lucky to come away from their game against Rotherham with a point. A couple of sitters were missed, Ryan Schofield made some lovely saves and the ref denied them a clear penalty. While Town haven’t always had their share of luck this season, it may be that we were saving it all up for this game. Town conceded seven fewer goals in this game than on Tuesday night, so that’s some progress but the quality of the football suggests that we may have to be patient as Town slowly inch their way to safety.
