“Replacing O’Brien requires two players” – Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on West Brom

“Replacing O’Brien requires two players” – Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on West Brom

Matches
Huddersfield Town face West Brom tonight at the Hawthorns. The game represents an opportunity for Town to get back to winning ways after losing to Forest in the cup on Monday night. The defeat meant Town no longer have their unbeaten streak in all competitions but remain unbeaten in the league since November. West Bromwich Albion were widely fancied to make a quick return to the Premier League after being relegated this year but like so many teams (including Town) they’ve struggled to adjust to life back in the Championship and have seen their season fizzle out. They are currently on one of the worst runs of form in the league and their fans are seriously unhappy with what they’ve seen so far under new manager Steve Bruce.  After rotating his team for the Forest game, tonight w...

Easy wins, swagger, playoffs, moaners, Forest overconfidence, no pressure and heavy rotation – Looking back at Peterborough and ahead to Forest

Playing on a Friday and Monday night doesn’t give much time between games, so I’m going to look back at the Peterborough game and forward to the Forest game at the same time. If the turnaround between games isn’t enough for this blogger to recover then it’s likely the same can be said of the players' legs too, so I suspect we’ll see a significantly changed team against Forest. Anyway, after a weekend of results going very well for Town, we find ourselves sat in the automatic promotion spots and one game away from a mouth-watering fixture against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter finals. So things are going incredibly well for Town at the moment. Another easy victory  Just like the Birmingham game last weekend, the Peterborough game was an easy victory for the Terriers and the ...

“The Chelsea loanee needs time to adjust” – Player ratings for Town’s 3-0 win over Peterborough

Huddersfield Town extended their unbeaten run with a comfortable victory over Peterborough United last night. While there were brief moments of fight from the visitors, it was an incredibly one sided game where Town dominated throughout. Incredibly, this win took Town into the automatic promotion places for the night. While Bournemouth’s games in hand mean it’s unlikely to stay that way it is still remarkable. Carlos shuffled the pack with his selection last night and once again managed to field a team that was more than up to the job of dismantling the opposition. I can’t think of a time in recent memory when Town have had as strong a squad available. Even in the promotion season we relied on a core of twelve or thirteen players and the rest were pretty average (sorry Harry Bunn f...

Predicted Huddersfield Town XI to take on Peterborough tonight

Huddersfield Town kick off a busy weekend by playing Peterborough tonight in the league before switching their attention to Forest in the cup on Monday night. Peterborough sit bottom of the league and have recently parted company with Darren Ferguson and replaced him with Grant McCann. They haven't had any signs of a new(ish) manager bounce yet, losing to Man City and Hull in their new boss’ opening two games.  In talking about the selection for the next couple of games it would be easy to talk about resting players and fielding weaker teams but our squad is deep enough to be able to rotate heavily most games without seeing a drop in quality in the team. So I think there will be changes tonight but not out of lack of respect for our opponent or to prioritise the cup but simply to ...

The 8 best tweets from Huddersfield Town’s thrilling late win against Cardiff

Town continued their incredible unbeaten run with a very late win at Cardiff on Tuesday night. These moments don't come along often so it's no surprise that many fans took to social media to savour the moment. Here are a few of my favourite tweets about this memorable victory. Chris Green offers to do Carlos' laundry! https://twitter.com/htafcChris1994/status/1496953105979621377 Corberán is usually so intense on the touchline but it's unusual to see him celebrate like this, which is why this knee slide makes me smile so much. I get fed up of managers pretending they're not bothered when their team scores, much better to join in the celebrations. Thankfully he wasn't wearing his cream chinos as grass stains can be pretty hard to get out of light coloured fabric. Sorba Thomas ...

Huddersfield Town left it late against Cardiff but eventually found a way to win a game that seemed destined to end in frustration for Town fans. Late, late goals from Koroma and Russell meant Town preserved their unbeaten run for another game and solidified their position in the playoffs, rising to fourth in the table. It was far from a perfect Town performance, with Cardiff setting up to defend and Town struggling to break them down and frequently giving the Welsh side opportunities to break against us. This is the kind of game we’ve regularly struggled to win, so even if the football was poor at times, it feels like a huge step forward to have won a game against a team that parked the bus.  Here’s what I made of each player: Lee Nichols - 7 out of 10 Kept us in the gam...

My 9 favourite tweets about Town’s incredible victory over Fulham

The victory against Fulham on Saturday felt like a defining moment of our season. Up until this game I'd been quite sceptical about Town's chances of sustaining a playoff push into the closing stages of the season but now I'm starting to believe. I'm not the only one either, as many fans and people connected to the clubs took to Twitter to celebrate the victory. Here are eight favourite tweets from the weekend. Carlos puts out a rare tweet https://twitter.com/CarlosCorberan/status/1495088372351741956 Carlos has tweeted just twice during his time as Town manager before the above tweet, so it shows that he thought things was a significant moment. I didn't know he was on Twitter at all and I was even more surprised to see that he actually follows the TerrierSpirit.com Twitter a...

All the best tweets, videos, articles and podcasts about Town’s win against Barnsley

Matches, News
I started this blog because I didn't think there was that much coverage of Town that I liked. It was back in the days of The Examiner being pretty dire, the club didn't do much more than post press conferences to YouTube and there wasn't loads of stuff made by fans about games. Thankfully that's changed a lot over the years and there are now almost too many articles, videos and podcasts to digest after a game and that's before you consider all the interesting bits and pieces knocking around on social media. This article is a bit of an experiment to try and pull together some of the best coverage of Town after their FA Cup victory over Barnsley at the weekend. I'd be genuinely interested to know if you find this stuff interesting. Please put your thoughts in the comments below. If it's ...

The 7 best tweets about Huddersfield Town’s victory over Sheffield Wednesday

Huddersfield Town started their 2021/22 season with a penalty shootout victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the Carabao Cup. While it's tempting to dwell on the fact Town failed to score despite dominating possession and creating presentable chances but instead I'm going to focus on the positives from the game. Here's a roundup of some of the best tweets I found following another penalty shootout win at Hillsborough. Toffolo sings the praises of our new keeper https://twitter.com/Harry_Toffolo/status/1421843946737700870 Harry Toffolo was the first of the Town players to go online to talk about the game and he was right to single out Nicholls for praise. Our new keeper did a lot of win over Town fans with a couple of superb penalty saves during the shootout....
Odd deal structure and Derby fans’ anger adds interest to Duane Holmes arrival at Huddersfield Town

Odd deal structure and Derby fans’ anger adds interest to Duane Holmes arrival at Huddersfield Town

Transfers
After over a week of speculation he was on the verge of signing, Huddersfield Town have finally announced the acquisition of Duane Holmes from Derby County. As usual, both clubs have said the deal involves an "undisclosed fee" but  Ryan Conway of The Athletic has tweeted about the structure of the deal. Conway suggest that there is no upfront fee involved in the arrangement between Derby and Town, instead there are triggers agreed that will lead to payments down the line if certain milestones are met. https://twitter.com/RJConway92/status/1353659456698122244 What are the triggers that will lead to fees being due? There are no details about what these specific triggers are but it's likely they will be based upon Holmes having a successful career at Huddersfield Town. So thin...
