We’re back! After a long wait, Town returned to winning ways with a fine performance over Bournemouth. More pleasing than the result was the manner in which we achieved it. The “Terrier Identity” was back, with aggressive pressing and attacking intent. It’s a pleasure to write these player rating articles after this kind of performance because there were so many players that played well. After widespread underperformance for quite a while, it’s good to see so many putting in a decent shift. Manchester United 2-0 Huddersfield Town – Player ratings

Huddersfield Town fell to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. It started out as a solid defensive display but Town struggled to find a response after they went behind. It was always going to be hard to get anything from this game, but I think there were signs of improvement in Town’s performance. Here are my player ratings from the match. Jonas Lössl - 8 out of 10 Made some good saves, including the penalty from Sanchez. It was unfortunate that the ball ricocheted off his body and straight out to the penalty taker. He played safe with his kicking, which was the right choice under the circumstances. Terence Kongolo - 8 out of 10 We probably should have conceded a penalty for his brutal slam into McTominay in the first half, but I enjoyed seeing how committed he was...

Huddersfield Town were outclassed by Liverpool in a Premier League mismatch that continued our poor run of results. I thought there were a few encouraging signs in Town's performance but we were a long way short of the standard required to get points against top Premier League teams. Lössl - 6 out of 10 Unlucky with the deflection for the opener but shouldn't have left his near post open for the second goal. Löwe - 7 out of 10 Limited Salah’s opportunities to get into space and run at us. Offered very little going forward apart from the excellent cross for Depoitre early in the game. Huddersfield Town suffered a humbling defeat at the hands of fellow relegation strugglers, Stoke City. Our third consecutive defeat in the league was as bad or worse than the West Ham and Leicester games. We were comprehensively outplayed and struggled to get a foothold in the game. It’s not going to be pretty, but here are my player ratings from the game... Lössl - 6 out of 10 Following his poor short pass leading to a goal last week, he played it much safer with his kicking. While this was something many fans have been calling for, it meant we struggled to get time on the ball and couldn't build up from the back. Town were beaten 3-0 by Leicester at the King Power Stadium. It was a poor performance from Town, particularly after Mahrez’s opener early in the second-half. Here are my player ratings after another disappointing away day in the Premier League. Lössl - 6 out of 10 I think he could have done better for the second goal, where he committed a bit too early when Slimani was through on goal. Not that it was his fault but he could have made it harder for the opposition by staying on his feet for longer. Löwe - 6 out of 10 Had a tough task in marking Mahrez and mostly did a good job. Huddersfield Town 0-0 Burnley: Talking points and player ratings

Huddersfield Town drew 0-0 with Burnley at the John Smith’s Stadium in a hard-fought game that Town were lucky to come out of on level terms. Burnley pummeled Town for long spells in the first half but couldn’t quite make the break through. Below are a few of my thoughts about the game, followed by my player ratings. Burnley out-fought Town in the first half The success Burnley have had this season has confounded a lot of pundits, but it was clear from their display against Town why they’re doing so well. In the Premier League it’s been common for Town to come up against opponents with more skilful individuals but this is the first game I’ve seen a harder working team than Town. Town had to share the points with the Potters in their Boxing Day encounter at the John Smith’s Stadium. It was a good Town performance and on another day it could have been a victory. Here are my player ratings from the game: Lössl - 9 out of 10 Pulled off a string of amazing saves to keep Stoke out in the first half. One of those saves was 90% over the line before he managed to dig down and stop it going in. His distribution was good, he didn’t make any mistakes I can remember. One of his best performances for Town. Löwe - 7 out of 10 Will be disappointed that his marker got in front of him for Stoke’s goal, but otherwise had a decent game. Town came from behind to snatch a point against Southampton. It wasn't Town's best performance but there were some excellent moments too. Here are my player ratings from a performance that had a few highs and lows. Lössl - 6/10 Was brave to keep going after the kick in the face and made a few good saves. However, he ballsed up with his kicking twice and could easily have gifted Southampton at a goal or two. Malone - 6/10 He’s a welcome attacking threat but he gets so far forward that we’re exposed at the back. I feel like we’re less solid when he’s on the pitch instead of Löwe. His positional sense isn’t great and he’s not as good a tackler as Löwe. Schindler - 7/10 Stepped out of defence to try to break play up in midfield and got it wrong a couple of times. Huddersfield Town 1-3 Chelsea: The inquest (with player ratings)

Huddersfield Town hosted the current Premier League champions on a cold and rainy night in Yorkshire. Town were outclassed by Chelsea's expensively assembled team and struggled to get a foothold in the game. It’s never nice to see your team lose, but we were playing a team that’s far above the level Town are operating on.
