I’m a bit pushed for time, so this is going to be a lightning quick post about Town’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United, a brief preview of the Fulham game, and some of the transfer rumours I've heard about that involve Town. Huddersfield Town are out of the FA Cup after losing to 2-0 against Manchester United. The performance was good, but Town didn’t have the bit of luck or quality that they needed to capitalise on dominating the game. The scoreline makes it look like a comfortable win, but we made life uncomfortable for the opposition for long periods. This might not be a popular opinion but I genuinely believe that Huddersfield Town are a better club to support than Manchester United. It’s not because I’m a masochist who delights in pain, I think there’s a lot more to enjoy about supporting a small team. Town suffered their fifth consecutive defeat against Manchester United last Saturday, stretching the winless run to eight games. While most fans expected we’d experience tough spells like this, it’s still hard to watch us getting beaten every week. There are some positives to take from our recent games though. Liverpool and Manchester United were always strong favourites to beat us, but there are some things to draw from these matches which show signs of recovery. Huddersfield Town fell to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. It started out as a solid defensive display but Town struggled to find a response after they went behind. It was always going to be hard to get anything from this game, but I think there were signs of improvement in Town’s performance. Here are my player ratings from the match. Jonas Lössl - 8 out of 10 Made some good saves, including the penalty from Sanchez. It was unfortunate that the ball ricocheted off his body and straight out to the penalty taker. He played safe with his kicking, which was the right choice under the circumstances. Despite the doom and gloom, I think we've got a better chance against Manchester United than the bookies predict. Don't forget they wrote us off in the home game, where Town beat Man United 2-1. Here the lineup I think David Wagner will pick to get a result from the Manchester United game. Huddersfield Town recorded a historic 2-1 victory over Manchester United. It was an incredible occasion that I don't think I'll ever forget. While Manchester United were having an 0ff day, Town were at their best and worthy winners. It's unsurprising then that such a great result has led to some high player ratings. It was a wonderful team performance, with every player doing their bit to help achieve a win that will be talked about for a long time. Lössl - 8 out of 10 His kicking was great, with one punt upfield leading directly to Depoitre’s goal. Also made a good save late on to help us hold onto the lead. On the journey back from Wembley last May I spent a lot of time thinking about the teams Town would be playing this season. This was the first fixture I thought about, playing Manchester United at our own stadium. It's an absolute treat to be welcoming one of the best club teams in the world to Huddersfield. The challenge will be to get the Town players to put in a performance worthy of the occasion. Our first home game against a top six team ended in a 4-0 thrashing, but I'm quietly confident we'll make a better showing of ourselves against United.
